Vee Design was commissioned to provide a concept design for Emerald Botanic Gardens. This was to promote the qualities of the western area of the Emerald Botanic Gardens and provide a destination park within the Gemfields region.

The concept utilised smart cities concepts and nature play to create a diverse range of educational opportunities and unique play experiences. This includes: retaining the value of botanical knowledge, geological strata, and the use of new technology being incorporated into future parks of the region.

The playground concept includes mounds, cascading water and waterfalls, bridges, play towers, and a BMX track. The concept also reflects the qualities of botanic gardens by providing a custom-designed shade structure, shady picnic areas, BBQs and acts as a meeting point before further exploration of the Emerald Botanic Gardens.

The park is a return to a human-centered playground and has the opportunity to become a memorable location within the greater context of the site.
