The strategic urban vision transforms the Ipswich CBD into an economically viable, attractive, activated and desirable place at the heart of the city. The centre will embrace and celebrate the character and heritage of Ipswich, strengthen the CBD and provide a prominent and useable precinct for the whole community.

Establishing the new Ipswich CBD as a community heart with a new Civic Plaza, Civic Library, Council Administration Building and Entertainment Main Street.

Prior to the commencement of design, a public consultation was undertaken to establish and develop ideas for the city centre re-development. The key messages of the public consultation were a desire for food and beverage, summertime play, entertainment and community facilities.
