Designed to entice children to use and challenge their imaginations, Vee project-managed, designed and developed construction-ready plans for a magical sea-creature inspired sprayground as part of Livingstone Shire Council’s overall Foreshore Redevelopment.
The park features sea creature sculptures and a pirate ship crows’ nest adorning a host of interactive elements including water cannons, jets, an umbrella bucket, and jumping blocks. The mythical landscape is towered over by a 4m high Keppel Kraken sculpture centrepiece, whose multicoloured tentacles whirl and loop throughout the park, creating arches and spirals which periodically emit plumes of water cascades.
In Collaboration with Playscape Creations, Leisure Engineering, Premise Engineers and Natureworks, the multiple award-winning waterplay is now renowned as the Yeppoon foreshore’s premiere tourism identity.
Timber decks, barbeque, custom-made picnic tables and shades areas perch amongst tropical foliage, encouraging extended recreation for the entire family.
At night the playspace lights up, interacting with the water features to create a rich and colourful luminary experience.
An inspiring and visually impactful water play for cross-seasonal, day-to-night use, the project reflects locally significant iconography, whilst meeting exacting Australian Playground Standards across health and building codes.
