The Lismore Regional Parklands masterplan delivers a strategic plan to transform the sporting precinct into a premier parkland, establishing it as a focal point for the community and a tourist drawcard. The masterplan draws on the rich culture and history of the Lismore area including the highly valued ‘Big Scrub’ Rainforest. Connections are made to this story through the Big Scrub Adventure Playground which celebrates the local patches of ‘Big Scrub’, a prehistoric Gondwana Rainforest.

This space is located at a high point in the topography speaking to the mountainous rainforest that once thrived here. The lowest point of the site features Browns Creek which has been re-naturalised from a concrete drain into a ecologically thriving waterway. Water is further celebrated through the Fern Gully Splash Park which offers children a mysterious sneak peek into a forgotten world, An exaggerated naturalistic setting with prehistoric creatures and vegetation.
Sport is another important part of Lismore’s culture. To further celebrate this the parkland will feature a competition-level skatepark in the Urban Playground. Throughout the Parklands and especially in the Events lawn accordance have been made for a myriad of existing and new events to populate the calendar.
