Nimbin, a small village in the Northern Rivers region, is renowned as Australia’s capital of alternative living. Its unique character and strong community spirit set the stage for the creation of the Nimbin Place Plan, a collaborative effort between Vee Design, placemaking partners Fourfold Studio, Lismore City Council, and the local community.

Through a series of workshops with community members and schools, one-on-one interviews, trader engagement, and online surveys, we engaged a diverse range of voices. The overwhelming response revealed a passionate, supportive, and creative community deeply  committed to sustainability and collective well-being.

The resulting Nimbin Place Plan reflects these aspirations, presenting a shared vision for the village’s future. It includes a comprehensive action plan, place vision, values, drivers, mapping, project ideas, and a place identity palette.

Designed to evolve over time, the Plan empowers both the community and Council to shape a vibrant, sustainable future for Nimbin.
